 Update

On the 1st of April 2020 University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Weston Area Health NHS Trust merged to become University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) NHS Foundation Trust. Following this in Autumn 2020, Unity Sexual Health, Bristol and WISH (Weston Integrated Sexual Health) integrated to become one service and the WISH Centre is now led by Unity Sexual Health Services.

SIT AND WAITS/WALK INS

WE ARE SORRY, BUT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT PATIENTS FOR SIT AND WAITS/WALK INS. CONSULTATIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY- TELEPHONE APPOINTMENT FIRST AND IF REQUIRED A FACE TO FACE APPOINTMENT WILL BE ARRANGED FOR YOU BY THE NURSE OR DOCTOR THAT YOU SPEAK TO.

Please do not book or attend an appointment at the WISH Centre, if;

You have had a recent onset of a new continuous cough or a high temperature or a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia).

If you develop these symptoms, however mild, or you have received a positive coronavirus (COVID-19) test result, then you should immediately self-isolate stay at home for at least 10 days from when your symptoms started. If you live with others, all other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days

You've been in close contact with someone with coronavirus

NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do. This can be accessed from www.nhs.uk. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone, but be aware there may be high volumes of calls, so where possible look at the website first.

  • All information that you give us is kept confidential and stays within the the UNITY service unless we feel you are being put at harm or may cause harm to someone else. This will be discussed with you if this is the case.
  • All tests will be identified by number to preserve your confidentiality.
  • Any treatment, medication, leaflet or advice is free.
  • Results of tests will only be given to you personally.
  • We will treat you with respect.
  • We expect you to treat us with respect.

THERE IS AN ANSWERPHONE IF YOU RING AT OTHER TIMES, IF YOU LEAVE A MESSAGE WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITHIN OUR OPENING HOURS.

 

YOU CAN ALSO CONTACT YOUR GP WITH ANY CONTRACEPTION OR SEXUAL HEALTH CONCERNS AS THEY MAY ALSO BE ABLE TO HELP

IF YOU HAVE ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CONCERNS WHEN WE ARE NOT OPEN YOU CAN CONTACT YOUR GP OUT OF HOURS NUMBER. IN LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES CALL 999 AND IN NON LIFE THREATENING MEDICAL EMERGENCIES CALL 111.

 

THE WISH CENTRE IS ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE IMPLANTS AND COILS FOR CONTRACEPTIVE REASONS (NOT FOR MENAPAUSAL REASONS) AND ARE ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE THEM WITHIN CERTAIN GUIDELINES. IF YOUR GP CARRIES OUT THIS SERVICE THEY WILL BE YOUR FIRST POINT OF CALL. IF NEEDED PLEASE CONTACT US FOR MORE INFORMATION. WE ALSO DO NO LONGER PROVIDE A CERVICAL SMEAR SERVICE, AGAIN, YOUR GP WILL BE YOUR FIRST POINT OF CONTACT FOR THIS.

Throughout all of our sessions we run an all age service (13 year olds and up). We have a dedicated service to under 20's on a Tuesday evening.

Parking can often be difficult at the hospital due to the high volume of patients seen at the hospital in relation to the car parking spaces available. Please take this into consideration when attending for your appointment.

 
Late for appointments- If you are 10 minutes or more late for your appointment, then you may not be able to be seen and an alternative appointment will have to be arranged for you

 

 'YOUNG PEOPLE FRIENDLY' ACCREDITED (Young People Friendly Accredited-  services have proven they meet certain standards to meet young peoples needs (for ages 13-18) )
